Grandaisy's not so grand sometimes

So I went back to Ettia spa for Spa Week and thought I'd hop over to Grandaisy and try the zucchini pizza this man got the last time I was there.

It looked really good (and so did the plain slice simply covered in tomato which was quite yummy), but tasted ever so bitter.

Maybe the zucchini were a little ticked off about the cold weather setting in. I'll give them another chance some day.

I also went to try Sal and Carmine's pizza on 102nd and Broadway. It's supposed to be the best plain ny slice in the area...

When I got there I had high hopes. After all two men behind a counter with a mound of dough next to them and a bunch of congealed offerings in the display case is what NYC is about, right?

Well.. I took that baby out mid walk home and bit into it...

SO SALTY. Too salty to even have a picture taken.

Maybe the dough was having a bad day too.

So, for now, if you go to Grandaisy get the plain tomato pizza and if you're going to Sal and Carmine's hope that it's not too salty. I was so glad I didn't order the pepperoni after that first bite... and I adore salt.

c is for cookie and p is for procrastination

So I made these cookies for Blizzcon, but forgot to take any of the thumbprints I made so I'll be making more this weekend.

These are chocolate chip cookies with cinnamon and pecan. They were a hit!

I started out with this recipe:

Then I added cinnamon to taste, more vanilla, more chocolate and pecans.

OH ... I thought they came out a bit too sweet and I used dark brown sugar instead of light. So lower the amount of white sugar you use by about 1/4th cup at least.

I fail at measurements.

I've got a few food pics from the past few weeks, but not enough as I've been ...

eating out and also not taking pictures.

Places I've been this week:
Bombay Frankies
Shake Shack
Hill Country BBQ
Burger King

Place I will go sooner rather than later:
Artichoke Basille for pizza nirvana.

salchipapas

I'd been craving these since I visited my parents a month ago and got an "ok" version from Mama's Empanadas. I used some more organic potaotes and a few kosher franks (I really need to find a better sausage for this than Hebrew National... maybe kielbasa).

The best version I've had is from PioPio, but I think it's because their garlic-lime sauce is sooooo delicious on anything. The PioPio on 90th and 1st uses thicker hot dogs/sausages than the one I went to on Woodhaven in Queens.

I had an ample amount of tomatoes and onions with it that were sprinkled with lemon, salt and a little sugar.
