skirt steak and fried italian eggplant

My oven is full of baking cakes so I couldn't make oven roasted red bliss and creamer potatoes like I'd planned. I'm still happy cause fried eggplant is delicious.

Too tired to make another pseudo succotash tonight, so perhaps tomorrow I will see if I can conquer okra and not make it slimy (never cooked it before).

Steak was simple coat in grapeseed oil, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powders with a pat of butter at the end.

eggplant was cut, left to dry in paper towels, corn starched, egg washed then floured and panko'd.

dessert delivery to stay

I was home sick and feeling blech and so I met a friend in town from Boston for a sushi lunch.

Afterward I suggested we go to this little place because I always pass by it on my way home and never went in to check out the desserts.

This little shop is so cute with a ton of different offerings in all sizes.

We settled for two things.

I  got the mini strawberry shortcake. This was really just a bunch of perfectly sweeteened whipped cream that glomp hugged a piece of cake and happened to pass by a few strawberries. It was so good!

My friend had the raspberry chocolate ganache and had to fight her way through the ganache to get at the cake and get bits of it onto the fork and into her mouth.

The ganache was super rich, but very yummy.

corned beef, roasted red bliss potatoes + arugula, tomato and cucumber salad

gotta small point cut piece of corned beef from Fairway last Thursday so I plopped it in my 4qt soup pot with some corned beef spice mix from Penzey's.

Ended up taking a nap and the water boiled out around hour 2.

Put more water in and finished it up.

Potatoes were roasted with a salt mix from Porchetta down in the East Village, bacon grease, extra garlic powder and a dash of soy sauce at the end.

Salad has hot house cucumbers, sweet cherry tomatoes  and arugula from the Fairway on 72nd
