Slow cooked for 6 hours at 325-350 then the chicharron was crisped up separate on some parchment paper in the oven.

I used bitter oranges, limes, lots of garlic, olive oil, adobo, sazon, salt and pepper.

Dinner at Frank

We tried to go to Ippudo for dinner and found out they're closed for renovations till tomorrow, bummer.It was fareeezing so I gave him close options in the area. The next place we chose was also closed, but luckily right around the corner from a place I'd been to for brunch a bunch of times: Frank.

They gave us yummy bread and olive oil with olives in it as a starter.

I had a tiny bellini and he had a beer I forgot the name of.

Our appetizer was the crostini with pate on it. Very tasty.

For our entrees we both had a special. He had the squid ink linguine with calamari in a red sauce and I had the spaghetti matta which had shrimp in a white wine sauce, toasted almonds, bread crumbs and shaved radicchio.

Made it again for my boyfriend and didn't pile the meringue as high so it would fit in my fridge. =)

This time I actually got a piece.

porcini mushroom risotto with lamb chops

For a late New Year's dinner I made my boyfriend's grandmother's risotto recipe. It uses porcini mushrooms and a whole lot of arm power. 35 minutes of stirring later and I pan seared some lamb chops I had been marinating in a garlic, lemon and olive oil puree.

Dessert will be another lemon meringue pie.

spicy double chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies

So as a thank you to Q for sending me cupcakes I decided to make cookies. I totally pulled this recipe out of nowhere basing it off a chocolate chip cookie idea and working around her favorite nut, macadamia.


This is the first time I've actually not minded eating cookie dough (I'm not really a fan).

I put a whole heap of chocolates in here, in the batter some Callebaut, cocoa from Williams-Sonoma, dark chocolate pieces from Ghirardelli and these organic white chocolate pieces from Sunspire.


I'll be sending them off to a couple of people including Q. =)

I made sure to save my boyfriend a few for NYE and I hope everyone likes the cookies when they arrive.
