dad is great... give us chocolate cake

Chocolate cake for breakfast?

...eggs! Eggs are in chocolate cake! And milk! Oh goody! And wheat! That's nutrition! "What do you want?" "Can I have some chocolate cake?" "Chocolate cake coming up."

Actually it should be kid is great... cause I had to cart that over to the 'rental unit's apartment for Christmas. Whatever!

You can also see no knead bread #iforget-1 in the background.

This is double chocolate cake with a chocolate cream cheese frosting. Lots of yummy Valrhona and Callebaut in there with Ghirardelli dutch process cocoa for good measure.

Why are chocolate makers so hard to spell anyway?

wrap your food in dosa dough

So I was down near SoHo using some holiday gift cards and spending my life away when I remembered there was this little place I wanted to try around the corner (and a block) from Broadway.

Hampton Chutney Co is a cute little storefront with lots of yummy smells inside. That's normally enough to get me to walk through the door.

I picked up a #9 with jack cheese which is "Curry Chutney Chicken, Spinach & Balsamic Roasted Onion"

I carted it all the way home (with a bunch of bags) and filled each subway car I entered with the wafting smell of curry and cheese.

It was huge and it was good... really that's all you can ask for about some things in life. The dosa crepe was delicate and the mango sauce they included on the side went perfectly with the sandwich.

I forgot to get a full picture of it, but the thing was about as long as a good baguette so you're definitely getting your $9-12 worth!

There's one up closer to me on 84th and Amsterdam that I'll have to go to next.

hamham ham salad

That ham that I made for New Years? It was a 10 pounder. I still have two ziploc bags full of it in the freezer.

I used some in a salad with Bathouse Farms blue cheese yogurt dressing.

steaky nachos

So the bf and I went to the Heights and couldn't finish our dinner. I took home some tortilla chips, some melted cheese thingie, and a few buffalo wings.

Later on that week I used the chips as a base for these nachos.

I mixed salsa verde with some tomato paste, some fresh tomatoes and the juice of a lemon and heated this in a pot.

I pan seared a nice cut of steak in my cast iron skillet till it was on the rare side of medium rare then sliced it thinly.

On top of it all I put a bunch of cheddar cheese.blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com
